Yoga for Kids: “Stretch & Shine” Flow ✨

Age Group: 3–6 years
Duration: 15–20 minutes
Focus: Movement, mindfulness, body awareness, and calm.

🌟 Activity Overview:

This gentle yoga flow introduces young children to basic poses that help them stretch, breathe, and find stillness. It’s a great way to start the day, reset between activities, or wind down in the afternoon.

🧘‍♀️ Step-by-Step Flow:

  1. Welcome & Breathing (2 minutes)
Sit cross-legged on the floor or mat.
    • “Let’s take 3 deep breaths—like we’re blowing up a big balloon.”
    • Raise arms as you inhale, lower them slowly as you exhale.
  2. Warm-Up Stretches (3 minutes)
    • Reach for the Sky: Stand tall, arms up, stretch as high as you can.
    • Toe Touches: Bend down slowly and touch your toes (or knees).
    • Side Stretch: Reach one arm overhead and lean to the side, then switch.
  3. Yoga Poses (10 minutes)
Guide children through simple poses, holding each one for a few breaths.
    • Mountain Pose – Stand tall with feet together and arms by your side.
    • Tree Pose – Stand on one foot, place the other on your leg, and bring hands together.
    • Chair Pose – Bend knees like sitting in an invisible chair, arms stretched forward.
    • Warrior Pose – One foot forward, one foot back, arms stretched wide.
    • Seated Twist – Sit down, twist gently to each side.
    • Child’s Pose – Kneel down, arms forward, forehead on the mat.
  4. Cool Down: Relaxation & Stillness (3–5 minutes)
Lie down flat with arms by your side and eyes closed.
    • “Let your body rest. Feel your breath going in and out. You’re calm, relaxed, and peaceful.”
Use soft music or a bell to signal the end.
