Let’s engage children in a fun and interactive activity to introduce them to the concept of plant growth and care.This activity encourages sensory exploration, responsibility, and appreciation for nature. 

What materials do you need? 

  • Plastic cup/ small jar (one for each child).
  • Potting soil.
  • Photo of each child’s face to fit into the plastic cup or small jar.
  • Grass seeds to grow.
  • Water.

What to do: 

  1. Add each child’s photo to the plastic cup and these can be kept in place by double sided tape. 
  2. Fill up the cup with potting soil. 
  3. Add the grass seed to the top of the cups. 
  4. Pat the seeds down into the soil. 
  5. Generously water. 
  6. Wait for the seeds to grow. 

Tips and Tricks:

  • Once the plant grows, allow children to cut the grass as they please. 
  • Keep the cups on shelves and involve the children when watering them. 

This fun planting activity fosters environmental awareness and learning for young children by instilling a sense of responsibility for caring for living things and understanding the importance of plants in our environment.
